Job SummaryThe Journeyman Carpenter will work with the project management team to complete projects under contract. The successful candidate will be able to collaborate with a team of professionals to complete these projects within the projected deadline and under budget. Journeymen will be expected to plan, lay-out and perform all types of Carpentry work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
This position will be working in a heavy industrial construction setting.
The project is for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and will require a background check to gain site access. Davis-Bacon wages will be paid.
- Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans, specifications and visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding and framework using hand and power tools.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; construct and erect built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications for molding concrete structures.
- Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms; insert spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions; brace forms in place using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber.
- Pour concrete into finished forms, finish concrete surfaces to specifications, and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Concrete Carpenter Journeyman in a power plant/industrial setting is required.
- TWIC Card and/or Real ’s are required.
- Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools as well as measurement tools.
- Successfully able to move about a construction/industrial site, stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
- Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
- May be required to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffold to access required equipment/work areas so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
