Responsible for ensuring the safety for patrons and staff, supervising and training aquatic staff and assist in developing new aquatic programs, collecting income levels for scholarships, tracking insurance for health care and implementing lessons. Work is performed under the general direction of the Aquatics Supervisor.

Aquatic
  • Works with the Aquatic Supervisor to monitor lifeguard training programs.
  • Supervises the implementation of swim lesson curriculum and teaching philosophies.
  • Strictly enforces policies, rules, and regulations, maintains the conduct of persons using the facility and promptly warns users of existing safety hazards.
  • Conducts programs in the pool including: swimming lessons, special events, and aquatic programs.
  • Conducts water aerobics classes and fills in when necessary.
Staffing/Scheduling
  • Supervises the aquatic facility in the absence of the Aquatic Supervisor.
  • Assists in planning, hiring, scheduling of all programming and staffing related matters.
  • Reports all disciplinary problems to the Aquatic Supervisor.
  • Schedules instructors to teach in ability specific levels.
  • Assists with training and oversight of Concessions and Cashiers.
Operations
  • Sign-off on and document all time cards and deposits from the pools.
  • Assists front desk and Concessions with staff to manage daily operation.
  • Assists the Aquatic Supervisor with completing forms as required by American Red Cross, CDBG, insurance forms for Medicare reimbursement and Scholarship forms.
  • Responsible for scheduling lessons.
Weekly Duties
  • Review and compile weekly reporting enrollment.
  • Weekly operations meeting with Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Review all enrollment withdrawals and follow up with customers.
  • Insure reimbursement forms are completed and sent in.
  • Check on weekend rentals and notify staff.
  • Keep reader board current
Daily
  • Review sales
  • Daily customer interactions.
  • Respond to problems in a timely manner.
  • Instruct classes:
    Water Babies, Lessons, Adapted Aquatics and Senior Water Aerobics.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience managing people.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Must be certified or have the ability to obtain certification in CPR/PR, AED, oxygen administration, disease transmission, and first aid.
  • Possession of a valid Montana driver’s license is required
  • Demonstrates ability to oversee daily operation of aquatic facility.
  • Extensive background in aquatics; teaching lessons, lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patrons, employees, superiors and the public.
  • Maintain and operate classes and instruction to ensure quality and safety.
  • Familiar with the City of Great Falls and Aquatic Facility Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Ability to resolve problems and answer questions in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Report for work on time, in proper attire, well-groomed appearance.
  • Thorough knowledge of swimming lessons, practices and techniques.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Available to work weekends, holidays and evening shifts.

    This position directly supervises all aquatic staff under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work is performed in an office and pool environment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, reach, ride and perform similar body movements. Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a personal computer, office equipment and a motor vehicle;

    the ability to talkand hear in person or by telephone; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.

    EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    The work schedule is a 40-hour workweek Sunday through Saturday. This position is a non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Any overtime must be authorized prior to working. Work hours vary based on class and event schedules. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

    TRAVEL

    Travel is primarily local during the business day. Occasional travel may be required to attend off-site training and educational opportunities.
