Minimum Qualifications:

• Obtain a NYS Licensure within 6 months of hire
• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Preferred experience working with the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) population (OPWDD).
• Valid New York State driver's license.
• Ability to work independently and effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Paid Time Off:

• Up to 80 hours of vacation during the first calendar year of employment. Employees accrue an additional 8 vacation hours each subsequent calendar year, up to a maximum of 120 hours.
• Up to 40 hours of personal time per calendar year.

Hrs 9am-5pm

What You Will Do:

• Coordinate and oversee medical, dental, nursing, and clinic services.
• Monitor residents for signs of acute illness, complications, and exacerbation of chronic conditions.
• Participate in clinical and staff meetings to provide valuable medical and nursing insights.
• Conduct weekly on-site nursing visits, perform health assessments and review medical records (e.g., MARs, seizure charts, meal plans, vital signs).
• Make nursing recommendations and refer residents for medical treatment as needed.
• Supervise nursing tasks and patient care (e.g., first aid, wound care, vital signs) to ensure staff competency.
• Ensure safe medication administration, adhering to physician prescriptions and regulations.
• Assist with medical training, AMAP classes, and annual in-service training for new employees.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and OPWDD regulations to ensure to ensure compliance at each residential site (s)
• Attend OPWDD in-service
• Participates in agency committees that require an RN such as incident review and human rights committee.
• Participates in annual OPWDD compliance audits.
• Experience working with the I/DD population preferred

Supervision and Training of Direct Support Profession:

• Support with ongoing observation and supervision of nursing tasks and patient care
• Review medication administration as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with federal, state and OPWDD regulations
• Become familiar with the DSP/Frontline manager AMAP competency via ongoing observation, training related to the AMAP certification pouring
• Report unsatisfactory direct care staff job performance
• Assist the Nursing Department with new employee orientation medical training, AMAP classes, and mandatory annual medical in- services

Work Locations:
Serving both Nassau and Suffolk Counties

Option 1:
Glen Cove, Kings Point, Westbury, and Dix Hills, NY (covering four sites)

Option 2:
Malverne, Massapequa, Merrick, and Westbury, NY (covering four sites)

Work Hours/

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday - Friday with flexible scheduling options. Includes on-call duties for telephone triage coverage.
