Contract Project Coordinator 1A (Grade A18)
The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment’s Stormwater Management Division (SMD) seeks a Contract Project Coordinator 1A to assist with routine on‑site inspections of construction projects, ensuring compliance with approved plans and specifications. The selected candidate will also perform constructability reviews, maintain accurate project records, and assist with code, ordinance, and regulation reviews.
Responsibilities- Perform routine field engineering and administrative duties to monitor contracted construction, including conducting on‑site inspections to track progress and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Assist in reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify conflicts or discrepancies and recommend improvements or cost‑saving measures.
- Serve as a field liaison among architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and senior staff to address and resolve field issues, changes, and project concerns.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and retrievable records and logs of project plans and review activities for inclusion into reports or to provide information as requested.
- Assist in reviewing documents, purchasing ordinances, building codes, and applicable professional publications to assure maximum job proficiency.
- Utilize computer systems, inspection tools, and other technologies to support construction monitoring, documentation, and reporting activities.
- Perform additional tasks and duties not specifically listed in the class specification or position description that fall within the general occupational category.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Structural or Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of experience in inspection, construction supervision, or construction engineering.
- Valid Class C driver’s license.
- Familiarity with stormwater management practices, Best Management Practices (BMP) installation, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Completion of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training.
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate required proficiency.
- Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment during assigned duties.
- Pass preemployment checks, including reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
- Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non‑standard hours as operations necessitate and during emergencies. They are also expected to remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
