Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU | Travel Nurse | Upper Marlboro, MD (20774)

Travel nursing job for a Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) with NICU experience near Washington, D.C. — 13-week travel contract, rotating 12-hour shifts. Immediate openings for neonatal and pediatric nurses who want to join a collaborative pediatric/neonatal care team.

  • Position: Pediatric RN / NICU RN – Travel Nurse (Pediatric Ped/Surg with NICU focus)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: March 23, 2026 (flexible orientation dates available)
  • Shifts: Rotating 3 x 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00–19:30 / Night: 19:00–07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1960–$2060/week
  • Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics
  • Unit: 13-bed inpatient Pediatric Ped/Surg unit with NICU emphasis
  • Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday coverage required; floating within specialty (including Baltimore sister campus)
Qualifications (Job Requirements)
  • Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric RN experience with NICU exposure (NICU RN experience preferred)
  • Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license (must be active at time of submission)
  • BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) required; NRP (AAP or NRP) preferred
  • Tracheostomy care/management experience required
  • Experience with Epic charting system preferred (electronic health record experience encouraged)
  • Comfortable floating within the hospital and to sister campuses
  • Two professional references from most recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable)
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse eligibility)
  • First-time travel nurses accepted — pediatric travel nursing opportunity
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a sub-acute inpatient setting
  • Manage patients with diagnoses such as BPD/chronic lung disease, ROP, feeding difficulties, NAS, congenital cardiac defects, and more
  • Perform specialized clinical skills: tracheostomy care, arterial and central line management, blood product administration
  • Support oral-motor rehabilitation, oxygen management, developmental care, and complex feeding plans
  • Participate in unit-based procedures including circumcisions and ROP exams
  • Provide patient- and family-centered education and psychosocial support to families
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services, and physicians
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (Epic preferred) and adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
  • Float to other units within the specialty as needed to support patient care
