HVAC Service Technician

Overview

JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Start-up/Commissioning Technicians for full time year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the MD, VA, and DC area.

• Start-up, commission, maintain, and service industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment. Troubleshoot and locate malfunctions, diagnose problems, and determine appropriate repairs.
• Utilize laptops/tablets to document startup and commissioning forms required per project specifications.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
• Prove mechanical and plumbing systems are controlled by building automation systems to third party Commissioning firm.
• Provide partial supervision of NEBB Tab contractor and respond to punch listed equipment.
• Interface and coordinate activities with ATC sub-contractor.
• Service and repair evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repack valves, lubricate moving parts, replace filters, and clean coils.
• Adjust, repair, or replace thermostats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
• Repair or replace compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
• Maintain refrigerant inventory and consumption logs.
• Follow established safety procedures and utilize safety protective equipment and clothing applicable to trades or skills.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by direct manager.
• Perform minor copper tubing tasks; cut and thread pipe; make pipe and low voltage connections.
• Provide proper methods of storing and maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
• Meet schedules and timelines.
• Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
• Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
• Teach and instruct helper on the installation of an HVAC system.

• CFC/Universal License
• 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects or equipment
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
• Ability to read, understand, and work from drawings, specifications, and schematics
• Understands written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

• Excellent compensation ($82,000 - $104,000 per year)
