Position SummaryThe Department of Accounting and Finance in the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado invites applications for a Lecturer Of Accounting and Professional Engagement. The position is divided equally between classroom instruction and professional engagement, with 50% of the role dedicated to teaching accounting courses and 50% focused on developing and strengthening relationships with accounting firms, employers, alumni, and professional organizations.
The successful candidate will also lead accounting-focused student engagement and professional-development activities,including Meet the Firms, Beta Alpha Psi, and related programs that connect students with the accounting profession.
The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business, a leader in immersive learning andcareer preparation, invites applications for a Lecturer of Accounting and Professional Engagement. This position is designed to strengthen the connection between accounting education and professional practice, with responsibilities divided equally between classroom instruction and professional engagement.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses and contribute to the College’s commitment to high-quality, applied,and student-centered instruction. Teaching needs may include financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems, or other areas based on the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs.
The professional-engagement portion of the position will focus on developing and strengthening relationships with accounting firms, employers, alumni,professional associations, and other external partners. The successful candidate will lead accounting-focused student engagement and professional-development activities, including Meet the Firms
- serve as the faculty advisor for Beta Alpha Psi
- coordinate employer and alumni engagement
- and develop related initiatives that connect students with internships,employment opportunities, mentors, and the broader accounting profession
Candidates should demonstrate an enthusiastic commitment to accounting education, teaching excellence, student success, and sustained engagement with the accounting profession. The successful candidate will be expected to remain professionally current and actively engaged with the accounting profession throughout the appointment.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’sdegree in accounting, taxation, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- CPA licensure or a comparable professional credential
- substantial professional accounting experience
- College-level teaching experience
- demonstrated experience developing relationships with accounting firms, employers, alumni,or professional organizations
- experience leading student professional-development activities or accounting-related student organizations
