Counseling Secretary/Registrar

School Principal. Classification:
Non‑Exempt.
Contract:
2026‑2027, 204 days. Salary: $20.11 per hour plus benefits. Benefits are available immediately after hire. Paid leave options are provided in the Board of Education Policy Manual. Deadline for application:

- Required:
High School Diploma or GED; two years of responsible secretarial or office work utilizing computer systems; completion of the Medicine Module (training provided). - Preferred: CPI training (training provided); CPR/First Aid (training provided);
Bilingual; other related education, experience, or training.
- Assist in gathering data and prepare reports, including state and federal government reports, and develop reporting forms and procedures.
- Check computer printout reports for accuracy and recommend problem resolution.
- Perform basic maintenance of office equipment and order supplies.
- Type and format correspondence, reports, and publications using word processing and data processing software.
- Compose and send electronic communications and newsletters.
- Use various computer formats to compose correspondence for own or another's signature.
- Coordinate schedules and maintain school calendars.
- Act as a back‑up to the office manager when absent.
- Provide limited information to the public about department and district programs and policies.
- Supervise leadership students working in the office.
- Operate a personal computer and standard office equipment; train new personnel in equipment operation.
- Maintain office inventory.
- Maintain cumulative record files for each student, enroll new and transfer students, and update records accordingly.
- Answer calls, receive visitors, take messages, and serve as school receptionist.
- Collect input and monitor student attendance; call parents of students with unexcused absences; monitor tardy and unexcused absences and refer to principal if necessary.
- Copy and distribute newsletters and flyers.
- Ability to perform routine secretarial tasks without direction.
- Knowledge of basic office management principles and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and community.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other job‑appropriate software applications.
- Proficiency in business English, spelling, and office procedures with high accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle multiple tasks and interruptions, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Basic health clerk duties (e.g., administering medication, first aid).
- Enjoyment of working with children, parents, and the public.
- Bilingual skills are a must.
Ability to sit for long periods, manage visual and auditory distractions, and lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
