Position Summary:
The Global Coordinator supports the core operational, coordination, and communication functions of the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) at the University of Northern Colorado. This position exists to provide essential cross-trained administrative and programmatic support across education abroad, faculty-led study abroad, International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), and custom short-term international programs, ensuring continuity, risk awareness, and effective communication as the office's structure evolves.
The Global Coordinator serves as a central point of coordination and support for outbound study abroad activity, faculty-led program logistics and communication, and provides operational and compliance-related functions in collaboration with OGE leadership. The role ensures that OGE maintains institutional awareness of where students and scholars are located internationally, that internal approval and risk management processes are followed, and that faculty, students, and external partners receive consistent, accurate guidance regarding UNC processes.
This position also provides on-the-ground operational support for short-term international programs hosted Global Coordinator contributes to program logistics, participant support, and daily operations during active programs, serving as a visible and responsive OGE presence on campus.
This Global Coordinator plays a critical enabling role that allows OGE leadership to function effectively, safely, and in alignment with institutional and regulatory expectations.
Job Duties:
1. Education Abroad Coordination & Student Tracking - 20%
* Serve as a primary operational point of contact for students participating in study abroad through approved third-party providers and partner institutions.
* Using education abroad software and university database systems, maintains accurate records of outbound students, including destinations, program types, dates, and provider information.
* Provide guidance to students on institutional processes, required approvals, and use of approved providers, referring academic, financial aid, and visa advising to appropriate campus units or external providers.
* Support internal data tracking and reporting related to outbound student mobility.
2. Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program Support - 20%
* Coordinates communication between OGE, UNC faculty, academic departments, administrative resource staff, billing, and external providers for faculty-led study abroad programs.
* Support faculty and providers by ensuring clarity around timelines, required documentation, travel plans, and risk management expectations.
* Assist with collection and organization of program materials related to itineraries, emergency planning, participant lists, and institutional approvals.
* Create, update, and maintain education abroad guidance materials for internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure OGE has visibility into where students and faculty are traveling and the structure of each program.
3. Custom International & Short-Term Program Support - 20%
* Provide on-the-ground operational and logistical support during short-term international programs hosted on campus (approximately 2-6 weeks in duration).
* Assist with program logistics including arrivals, departures, transportation coordination, scheduling, room reservations, and daily operational needs.
* Serve as a visible and responsive OGE presence during active programs to support participants, faculty, and partners.
* Support communication with international partner institutions related to program logistics and coordination.
4. International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) Support - 20%
* Under the direct supervision of the ISS Director, Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), maintaining accurate reporting and data Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related requirements with the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and State (DOS).
* Using SEVIS batch solution software, collects required documentation prior to issuing and/or signing immigration support certifications (I-20s and DS-2019s), supports SEVIS data processing and reporting under regulatory guidelines, including mass registration, and maintains data and quality control management.
* Assists students and scholars in adjusting to life at the university and in the U.S. including providing on-campus academic and personal support resources, clubs and organizations as well as supporting OGE programming.
