Position: CDOC Laundry Supervisor CSTS I (Pueblo)

Correctional Support Trades Supervisor I (CSTS I)
The CSTS I is a Laundry Supervisor at the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prison facility located in Pueblo, CO. The position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the general public, staff, and inmates; training and supervising an inmate work crew in laundry operations; and maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant laundry services. Job Location

San Carlos Correctional Facility, Pueblo, CO.

Responsibilities

Safety and Security: Maintain safety and security of the facility and work sites. Train and guide inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, and chemicals. Enforce security procedures through work‑site searches, monitoring of workplace environment, and inmate behavior. Initiate verbal reprimands or, if necessary, physically control inmates using appropriate restraints or force techniques. Perform inmate counts, transportation, emergency response, and report as required.

Supervision: Provide supervisory duties for assigned inmate crew. Set work standards, train inmates in laundry operations, sanitation, and PPE use, track and calculate inmate hours and pay, create schedules, assign tasks, conduct inspections, and provide evaluations. Reduce inmate idleness by assigning meaningful work opportunities.

Operations: Maintain safe, secure, and compliant laundry operations and equipment maintenance. Prepare daily weight records, calculate daily consumption of supplies, maintain product inventory, and document clothing and linen movement. Follow guidelines for the identification, accountability, laundering, and wearing of state‑issued clothing in compliance with policy and regulations. Oversee housekeeping assignments and monitor the safe use and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of employment experience in a commercial, institutional, or industrial setting operating commercial‑grade washers and dryers. Laundry experience may be combined with commercial, institutional, or industrial housekeeping or janitorial experience.
  • OR:
    Two (2) years of related employment experience combined with correctional experience that includes detaining, controlling movement, escorting inmates, conducting counts and searches, and monitoring inmate assignments and movement.
  • Formal education resulting in competencies equivalent to the required experience may be substituted; transcripts must be provided.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience in stain removal, textile repairs, alterations, and ironing processes.
  • Experience maintaining inventory and responsibility for unit procurement.
  • Registered Laundry and Linen Director (RLLD) or Certified Laundry/Linen Manager (CLLM) certification.
Required Competencies
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability.
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency in operation of commercial/industrial washers and dryers.
  • Ability to maintain inventory, monitor supplies, clothing, and chemicals.
  • Ability to monitor equipment use, recommend maintenance, and arrange repairs.
  • Understanding of safe use of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and sanitation processes.
  • Effective communication with inmates individually and in groups, including verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to cooperate with staff and inmates.
