Playground/Cafeteria Monitor (Part-Time)

Starting Pay: $16.00 per hour

University Schools is looking for friendly, dependable individuals to join our team as Playground/Cafeteria Monitors. In this role, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for our elementary students during arrival, lunch, and recess.

Whether you're greeting students in the morning, encouraging positive play on the playground, or helping during lunch, you'll be an important part of our school community. If you're looking for meaningful work that fits your schedule, we'd love to hear from you!

Schedule Shifts are available during the following times:

  • 7:15 AM - 8:15 AM
  • 10:15 AM - 1:15 PM
  • 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Flexible Scheduling:
Monitors are not required to work every shift. We work with employees to build schedules that fit both school needs and availability.

Reports To:

Elementary Assistant Principal and Restorative Practices

What You'll Do

  • Welcome and supervise students during morning arrival.
  • Monitor students during lunch and recess in the cafeteria, playground, and other common areas.
  • Help students with lunch needs, including opening containers, using the microwave, and cleaning up small spills.
  • Assist with keeping lunchroom and playground areas clean and organized.
  • Help maintain safe playground conditions by checking equipment, sweeping debris, and assisting with light snow removal when needed.
  • Observe student behavior and promptly report injuries, safety concerns, or disciplinary issues.
  • Foster a positive, respectful environment where students feel safe and supported.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Friendly, patient, and enjoys working with children.
  • Dependable with a positive attitude.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to stay active throughout the day, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally lifting or shoveling.
  • Able to communicate effectively and remain calm in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Benefits & Additional Information

  • Starting pay: $16.00 per hour
  • Flexible part-time schedule
  • Eligible for Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) retirement benefits.
  • Not eligible for medical, dental, or vision insurance.
  • Background check required prior to employment.
  • Closed-toe shoes, sneakers, or boots are required.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided when necessary.
