Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspector
A customer service oriented position that inspects boats and watercraft for invasive species such as Zebra/Quagga Mussels and Milfoil at the Yampa River State Park inspection point. This role protects natural resources and supports park visitors.
Responsibilities- Staff the Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspection station.
- Conduct physical boat inspections and interview boaters.
- Provide information, brochures and education on ANS and park regulations.
- Perform cleaning and light maintenance of the ANS station’s interior and exterior.
- Accurately count and record all boat inspections using written or phone application software.
- Document and report visitor complaints as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- 16 years of age or older.
- Current, valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Ability to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- May be required to work eight‑hour shifts at the ANS station and take lunch on site.
- Some uniform items provided; limited items may be purchased by employee.
- Background screening may be required for placement.
- Compliance with DNR fleet driving standards if required to operate a state vehicle.
- Use arms and legs for climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Ability to perceive color differences and hear verbal and radio communications.
Responsible for general maintenance and cleaning of public facilities such as restrooms, showers, campsites, picnic areas, and trails.
Responsibilities- Operate and perform routine maintenance on state‑owned vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure quality customer service and facility cleanliness.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and material transport.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Customer service position working at visitor centers or gate entrances, greeting visitors and providing information.
Responsibilities- Staff park entrance stations or visitor centers.
- Distribute maps, brochures, and orient visitors to park facilities.
- Sell park passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, and other items.
- Operate cash register and handle sales transactions.
- Answer phones, transfer messages, and file documents.
- Collect revenue, complete shift reports, and balance cash box.
- Prepare campground reservation forms as needed.
- Assist with special events or programs.
- Perform cleaning and light maintenance of gates, visitor center, and offices.
- Report visitor complaints when applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
