Dental Hygienist

Bonus:
Base pay + opportunity for up to $10,000 annual bonus (pro-rated based on FTE). Loan repayment program:
Hygienist in this position may be eligible to qualify for the HRSA or CHSC loan forgiveness program.

Benefits packet available for full-time (30 hours or more) employees:

  • PTO accrual: 6 weeks of PTO during your first year, increasing to 7 weeks of PTO your second year and 8 weeks of PTO your third year (including the 12 paid federal holidays). Pro-rated based on FTE

Entry I salary: $81,451.23 annually for those with 0-12 months relevant experience. Salary range: up to $93,691.66 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and position level.

Position Summary:

With a quality, customer first, and compassionate approach, the dental hygienist will:

  • Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, and seating patient.
  • Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
  • Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health.
  • Recognize status of patient's periodontal health and delivers the appropriate treatment based on the treatment plan.
  • Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.
  • Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums; using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession; exposing and developing radiographic studies.
  • Prevent dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity preventing agents.
  • Maintain patient appearance and ability to chew by fabricating temporary restorations, cleaning and polishing removable appliances, placing, carving, and finishing amalgam restorations, removing cement from crowns and bridges.
  • Assist dentist with dental and medical emergencies.
  • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions, providing reminders of time of next dental hygiene visit.
  • Initiate oral hygiene instruction with all patients during course of treatment.
  • Properly refer abnormal findings to appropriate provider (i.e., undiagnosed hypertension to MD, leukoplakic oral lesion to DDS).
  • Notify DDS of patients who fail to respond to initial therapy appropriately and thereby may need chemotherapeutic or surgical intervention.
  • Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories, charting in patient records.
  • Follow clinic protocol with reviewing patient's medical history at every appointment and records changes.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Follow clinic radiographic protocol and produces diagnostic radiographs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Associates (A.A) degree from a community college or technical school in dental hygiene License to practice oral hygiene in the state of Colorado. 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
