Provide an enriched environment where students develop the knowledge, skills, and responsible attitudes that contribute to their growth as mature, capable citizens. Facilitate learning and guide students toward their intellectual, emotional, and psychological potential under the direction of the building principal and department director.
Essential Functions- Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure adequate supervision to guarantee the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum standards, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Use instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting objectives and standards.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose student learning abilities regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis.
- Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures, maintaining order fairly and justly.
- Plan and supervise assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers, and collaborate with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of individual students or groups.
- Strive to implement district philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives.
- Respect students’ personal spaces throughout the day.
- Implement IEP plans while preserving academic time and motivating student participation.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Cooperate with staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Accept shared responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority promptly.
- Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Establish open communication lines with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Pursue professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework at higher‑learning institutions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrators in accordance with district policies.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
