Salary

Salary placement on the Certified Salary schedule is dependent on education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees are granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience, up to a maximum of ten (10) years.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Ability to sit for long periods, handle visual and auditory demands, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Maintains discipline and classroom control, fostering a safe and positive environment in accordance with school and county policies.
  • Ensures adequate supervision to guarantee health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  • Guides learning toward curriculum standards, establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Uses instructional methods and materials best suited to meeting objectives and standards.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses student learning abilities regularly and seeks assistance from district specialists when necessary.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable classroom behavior rules and maintains order fairly.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers and collaborates with department heads.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of student groups.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional standards.
  • Respects students' personal spaces throughout the day.
  • Implements students' IEP plans while maintaining integrity of academic time and motivating participation.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration.
  • Provides availability to students and parents outside instructional hours when required under reasonable terms.
  • Cooperates with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
  • Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems promptly.
  • Models non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
  • Pursues ongoing professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrators.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Colorado Teaching License.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in a related field.
  • Preferred:
    Bilingual.
