Special Education Assistant – Intensive Autism
Location: Greeley West High School
Classification: Non‑Exempt
Contract Length: 2026‑2027 (180 days)
Salary: $19.88 per hour plus benefits; additional salary credit up to $30.86 for certain internal transfers
Benefits: Comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and retirement plans. Paid leave options are available under district policy.

Education / ExperienceRequired: Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours or passing scores on the Work Keys exam.
Preferred: CPI training (provided); CPR/First Aid (provided).
Job DescriptionSummary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.
Essential Job Functions- Support academic programming and progress of individual students and small groups of students with significant needs.
- Provide student‑specific personal care and support.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and support staff.
- Maintain the ability to sit for long periods and manage numerous distractions; visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity required.
- Move quickly from one position to another in response to student needs and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Applicant must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the functions. Prior experience working in a school setting or with children who have special needs is required. Strong verbal communication skills, teamwork capability, positive attitude, upper body strength to lift and carry 50 lbs., and paraprofessional experience are preferred. Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
