Lower Elementary Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Homeroom teacher in a K-2 elementary division
  • Provide a stimulating and creative learning environment
  • Use best practices regarding student-centered instruction
  • Participate in ongoing specific trainings such as literacy, math and differentiation
  • Provide regular and thorough feedback to all BCD constituents (students, parents and colleagues)
  • Support enrollment and retention by assisting in tours, events and other school outreach activities
  • Other duties as assigned by Head of School

Hours and Pay

  • BCD’s teachers work traditional school hours (7:30 - 3:30)
  • Salary range is $54,000 to $85,000 annually
  • This is a 10 month position following an August through May school year calendar.
  • This is an exempt position with excellent benefits and paid time off as outlined below
  • Generous Paid Time Off including 10 paid holidays, as well as 48 hours of PTO and 48 hours of sick time
  • Extended time off when school is closed for Thanksgiving break (one week), winter break (two weeks) and spring school break (one week)

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Master’s preferred
  • Experience teaching in elementary level
  • Background in Responsive Classroom (RC) and/or Orton-Gillingham (OG) model
  • Knowledge of or background in independent schools
  • Passion for teaching elementary school children
  • Be a team player, open minded, flexible, and reflective
  • Commit to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school communit
