Job Description
Aims Community College supports a mission of innovation and care. The primary role of the faculty member is to teach industrial technology and advanced manufacturing courses. Adjunct faculty in the Industrial Technology program provide classroom instruction and lab work, and collaborate with the Industrial Technology team and Lab Coordinator to ensure that equipment and curriculum support student learning.
Job Duties- Provide instruction covering industrial technology and advanced manufacturing topics, including process technology, automation, PLCs, instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial maintenance in accordance with industry standards and department practices.
- Supervise students to ensure the safe and proper use of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Evaluate student work, assign grades, and assist full‑time faculty with assessment of learning.
- Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate continuous commitment to quality and a willingness to embrace the college’s mission, philosophy, and commitment to diversity.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Work as a team member with a spirit of cooperation and flexibility, meeting periodically with the Industrial Technology team to discuss strategy and programming.
- Implement department, division, and institutional goals as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Industrial Technology Department Chair or Academic Dean.
- Required to hold an Aims Community College CTE Credential or be qualified for one.
- To teach courses 1101, 1110, and 2220:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM‑related field plus at least 2,000 hours of relevant industry experience within the last 10 years,
- or Associate degree in a STEM‑related field plus at least 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience within the last 10 years,
- or relevant professional or trade certifications and 10,000 hours of relevant industry experience.
- Experience older than 10 years will be considered if the candidate has been continuously teaching in the content area since that time.
- Shall hold or qualify for a post‑secondary vocational credential in Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Production and Repair, and/or Engineering & Technology issued by the Aims Community College CTE Office.
