Salary: Salary placement on Certified Salary schedule depends on education and experience. Certified/licensed employees may receive one year of salary for each full year of contractual/work experience up to 10 years, including in‑district and out‑district experience.

Job Description

Summary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Maintains discipline and classroom control fostering a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
  • Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  • Guides learning toward achievement of curriculum standards, establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Uses instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses learning abilities regularly, seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable classroom rules and procedures, maintains order fairly.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants/volunteers, cooperates with department heads.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
  • Strives to implement district philosophy, instructional standards, and objectives.
  • Respects student personal spaces throughout the day.
  • Implements students' IEP plans, ensuring academic time integrity and motivating participation.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
  • Provides availability to students and parents for educational purposes outside instructional day when required.
  • Cooperates with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in selection of books, equipment, instructional materials.
  • Accepts shared responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
  • Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, discipline problems promptly.
  • Models non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Complies with school and division regulations and policies.
  • Maintains open communication with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
  • Invests in own professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
  • Performs other duties assigned by building administrator in accordance with school/division policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
