Special Education Teacher (Intensive Autism) – 2 Positions

Open to applications until filled. Positions are exempt, with a contract length of 190 days, starting July 29 , 2026.

Job Summary

Provide instruction and support for students with intensive autism needs, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Essential Functions
  • Plan and deliver programs that meet each student's individual needs.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
  • Maintain discipline and classroom control that promote safety for all students and staff.
  • Supervise and assure health, welfare, and safety of students.
  • Communicate curriculum objectives and instructional goals to students.
  • Use appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet objectives.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide required reports.
  • Identify student learning abilities and seek district specialist assistance when necessary.
  • Counsel students, parents, and colleagues as needed.
  • Help implement school policies, develop classroom behavior rules, and maintain fairness.
  • Coordinate and supervise assignments for instructional assistants or volunteers.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Employ diverse instructional techniques and media.
  • Apply district philosophy, standards, and objectives in instruction.
  • Respect students’ personal spaces during school hours.
  • Implement IEP plans while preserving academic time and motivating participation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law and policy.
  • Be available for student and parent education-related matters outside instructional time under reasonable terms.
  • Collaborate with staff on instructional planning and goal setting.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Participate in co‑curricular activities as assigned.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline issues promptly.
  • Model non‑discriminatory practices.
  • Comply with school and division regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Engage in professional development (reading, workshops, conferences, advanced coursework).
  • Perform any other duties assigned by administrators.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Required Qualifications
  • Colorado Teaching License with endorsement in the related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in related field.
  • Bilingual skills.

  • Leadership experience supporting social, emotional, psychological, and academic needs.

Workplace and Physical Demands

Students may require assistance; the role includes physical demands such as frequent lifting (up to 30 lb) and prolonged periods of sitting.
