Salary: Placement on the Certified Salary schedule depends on education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees receive one year of credit for each full year of contractual and/or work experience (up to ten years).

Summary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and skills that foster their development as mature, responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth, working under the direction of the building principal and department director.
Essential Functions- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure adequate supervision to guarantee health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum standards, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Use instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
- Assess students’ accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose learning abilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists when needed.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
- Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct, develop classroom behavior rules, and maintain classroom order fairly.
- Plan and supervise assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers, collaborating with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
- Implement district philosophy of education through instruction and actions.
- Respect students’ personal spaces throughout the day.
- Implement IEP plans while protecting academic time and motivating students to learn.
- Maintain accurate, complete records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Be available to students and parents outside instructional day when reasonably required or requested.
- Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Share responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities with reasonable precautions.
- Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems promptly to the appropriate authority.
- Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Engage in professional development through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced coursework.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator in accordance with school/division policies.
