- High school diploma or GED equivalent and completion
Summary/Objective
:
To support teachers and staff and enable each child to pursue his/her education.
- Demonstrate eagerness to help students where and when needed.
- Possess good secretarial skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word; preferred for office work.
- Have willingness and/or experience helping special‑needs students as a potential special‑education assistant.
- Be willing and able to substitute as a regular classroom aide.
- Undertake necessary medical training to serve as a health clerk; contact Lead School Nurse for enrollment.
- Be proficient in sign language to serve as an interpreter/tutor for hearing‑impaired students.
- Complete fingerprinting and background checks, required for all classified substitutes.
- Visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the position’s functions.
Ability to sit for long periods, presence of numerous distractions, visual and auditory acuity important, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
