Salary: Salary placement on the Certified Salary schedule is dependent on education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees receive one (1) year of salary credit for each full year of contractual and/or work experience, up to a maximum of ten (10) years.

Summary / ObjectiveProvide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director.
Essential Functions- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Use instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose the learning abilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order fairly and justly.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers, working cooperatively with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of individuals or groups.
- Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives.
- Respect students’ personal spaces throughout the day.
- Implement students’ IEP plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
- Provide availability to students and parents for education-related matters outside the instructional day as reasonably requested.
- Cooperate with other staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accept a share of responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.

- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress of assigned students.
