Title:

Salida del Sol Academy K-8 Principal

Location: 111

Salida del Sol Academy is a K-8 dual language public charter school with about 660 students. We are seeking a dynamic principal committed to and knowledgeable about dual language education. The role is primarily focused on K‑4 instruction, coaching, assessment, and planning, while also overseeing all grade levels.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Primary focus on K‑4 instruction, coaching, assessment, and planning, with responsibilities across all grade levels.
  • Commitment to and understanding of dual language methodology (DLTI Gómez & Gómez).
  • Deep knowledge of restorative practices for positive behavior support.
  • Knowledge of site‑based/shared decision making.
  • Familiarity with Special Education, 504 plans, and the MTSS process.
  • Knowledge of the Science of Reading, early literacy, reading plans, and developing numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge of Title I school requirements and regulations.
  • Experience in continuous school improvement aligned with SDSA strategic plan.
  • Ability to create an innovative and creative learning/work environment.
  • Oversight of educational assessment process and data collection.
  • Evaluation and assessment of teacher performance with knowledge of clinical supervision.
  • Design, implementation, evaluation, adaptation, and improvement of curriculum and student activities.
  • Strong prioritization, problem‑solving, and communication skills with parents, staff, students, and community.
  • Ensuring a safe and productive environment for all.
  • Effective use of human, material, and financial resources.
  • Support of enrollment processes and staff recruitment, hiring, and supervision.
  • Reporting student achievement and school events to Executive Director and Board.
  • Excellence in written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating differentiated professional growth activities.
  • Implementation of board policies and administrative procedures.
  • Attendance at Board of Directors meetings.
  • Service on School Accountability and Calendar Committees.
  • Establishment and enforcement of student attendance procedures.
  • Collaboration with the other principal, Executive Director, and staff.
  • Revising handbooks and codes of conduct as needed.
  • Development of daily schedules for staff and students.
  • Assumption of other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A Colorado Principal or Administrative license is required. Candidates must have at least 3–5 years of experience in school administration and a certification to evaluate teachers, which must be obtained upon hire. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $112,766 – $165,666 for a full‑time (218.5 days) position starting July 13, 2026. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, sick leave, and participation in PERA.
