JOB SUMMARY: Manage and direct the school library media center. Collaboratively deliver instruction that promotes an exemplary educational program and ensures success for all students. Create and maintain a school wide literacy culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization.   • Collaborate with teachers from various departments and co‑teach skills including but not limited to reading, research, information and media literacy, and an organized inquiry method. (Daily, 15%)
  • Create a school wide literacy culture by promoting a variety of dynamic library programs related to reading, research, technology, etc. (Daily, 15%)
  • Maintain and strategically develop an equitable library collection aligned with school goals and individual students’ interests. (Daily, 10%)
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and accessible library space for the entire school community. (Daily, 10%)
  • Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement. (Daily, 10%)
  • Develop and maintain access to online library tools, including the Integrated Library System, academic databases and other resources, providing professional learning, direct instruction, and troubleshooting as needed. (Daily, 10%)
  • Assist students, staff, and community in accessing and using the library’s resources. (Daily, 10%)
  • Support and actively participate in campus, district, and other professional learning opportunities. (Daily, 5%)
  • Participate collaboratively in teaching teams to design curriculum and assessments and pursue best teaching practices. (Daily, 5%)
  • Actively participate in a professional learning community. (Weekly, 5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested. (Daily, 5%)
  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
    • Master's degree
    • Three (3) years of teaching experience
    • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
    • CDE Teacher Librarian Endorsement
    • Strong knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and instructional technology
    • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Work location is subject to change to meet the requirements of the organization
    • Light work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds)
    • Primarily works indoors
    • Typically a quiet noise level
    • Prolonged standing and walking
    • Frequent bending, reaching, and climbing
    • Occasional lifting, pulling, and pushing
    • Eye/hand coordination
    • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard
    • Concentrated reading/writing/mathematics
    • Normal school district environment
    • May work outdoors when monitoring student activities
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Five (5) years of teaching experience
    • Experience working in the public sector, specifically public education
    • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
