Position SummaryThe intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student‑athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the University at large.
The position will assist the Head Coach for Cross Country/Track and Field in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training and competition. Additional duties include home meet organization, management, set‑up, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
Job Duties- Teach proper technique and skill development in various aspects of track & field and cross country.
- Instruct student‑athletes in small group and one‑on‑one settings with a complete and thorough understanding of track & field and cross country.
- Assist in recruiting potential student‑athletes.
- Impart track‑specific knowledge and cross country instruction to student‑athletes.
- Provide experience in coaching and/or playing at the college level.
- Identify and recruit student‑athletes.
- Demonstrate well‑developed communication, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Work weekends and evenings as required.
- Travel extensively as required.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Two (2) years minimum coaching experience at the collegiate level.
