Adjunct Faculty: Light Diesel Technology

The Aims Community College seeks a highly qualified automotive technician to serve as a part‑time instructor in the Automotive Service Technology program. The instructor's primary responsibility is to teach courses, develop curriculum, and support student learning in a student‑centered environment.

• Form a hiring pool and provide expertise in Automotive Service Technology subjects
• Teach day and/or evening classes at the Windsor campus and/or other assigned locations
• Develop test banks, course materials, and instructional technology for classroom and lab instruction
• Support students in varied modalities, including online, synchronous remote, and face‑to‑face teaching
• Maintain and obtain the required ASE certifications: G1 before first day of classes, and L1 within the first year, and comply with ASE Educational Foundation/NATEF Standards
• Use a company vehicle for business travel, pass an MVR, and be insurable under Aims insurance
• Maintain industry certifications and pursue professional development activities

• Associate's degree in a related field such as Diesel Power Mechanics plus 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience, OR current industry license/certification plus 6,000 hours of relevant industry experience
• Hold or qualify for a post‑secondary vocational credential in Automotive issued by Aims Community College CTE Office (contact Landon Loyd for the application)
• Full and current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in A1‑Engine Repair, A2‑Automatic Transmission, A3‑Manual Drive Train and Axles, A4‑Suspension and Steering, A5‑Brakes, A6‑Engine Repair, A7‑Electrical/Electrical Systems, and A8‑Engine Performance
• ASE G1 certification obtained prior to first day of classes
• ASE L1 certification obtained within the first year, and compliance with all ASE Educational Foundation/NATEF standards for Program Instructor Certification
• Ability to use a company vehicle for business travel, pass an MVR, and be insurable under Aims insurance
• Commitment to high standards of work performance and continuous improvement
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer literacy, and ability to operate automotive service industry equipment and build test banks
• Ability to teach using methodologies that support a student‑centered learning environment

• Previous college teaching experience (asset but not required)
