Education / ExperienceRequired: AA degree or 48 semester hours or passing Work Keys exam.
Preferred: CPI training (training provided), CPR/First Aid (training provided).
Job DescriptionSummary / Objective: Provide an enriched environment where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. Responsible to the building principal and department director.
Essential Job Functions- Support the academic programming and progress of individual students or small groups with significant needs.
- Provide student‑specific personal care and support.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and supporting the staff.
- Sit for extended periods, manage distractions, maintain visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity.
- Move quickly among positions in response to student needs; possess upper body strength to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the job functions.
- Experience providing personal care support to students with special needs; prior school experience preferred.
- Strong verbal communication; ability to work quickly and collaboratively; positive attitude.
- Paraprofessional experience preferred; bilingual skills preferred but not required.
