  • Salary:
    Placement on Certified Salary schedule based on education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees are granted up to 10 years of credit for contractual work experience.

Job Summary

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
  • Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Uses instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses learning abilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develops reasonable classroom rules and procedures.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers, working cooperatively with department heads.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of individuals or groups.
  • Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional standards.
  • Respects students’ personal spaces throughout the day.
  • Implements IEP plans while ensuring timely academic instruction.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
  • Provides availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required.
  • Cooperates with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Accepts responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
  • Ensures protection of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems promptly.
  • Models non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Complies with school and division regulations and policies.
  • Maintains open communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Pursues professional growth through ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Performs other duties assigned by building administrators in accordance with policy.
