Job Overview

Aims Community College is hiring an Embedded Tutor to support students in developing independent learning skills. The role focuses on learner‑centered support and increased student confidence while collaborating with faculty and maintaining accurate documentation.

• Attend classes for specified courses and assist students during class activities.
• Arrive an hour before and/or after class to help students with assignments.
• Provide individual or group tutoring as requested by students.
• Facilitate observation by the department chair once per semester.
• Complete written and electronic timesheets for the Perkins Grant.
• Use a learner‑centered approach to improve student confidence and success.
• Guide students in developing active and independent learning skills.
• Communicate with the Program Coordinator to ensure effective tutoring methodologies.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of tutoring sessions.
• Participate in regular tutor training and self‑reflection on tutor role.
• Attend one‑on‑one meetings with the Program Coordinator and subject‑area faculty.
• Create a clean, learner‑centered classroom environment.
• Promote student use of campus resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
• Adhere to student and staff policies of Aims Community College.

• Documented two‑year degree from an institution or equivalent (junior level status).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Interest in professional development and continuous learning.
• Completion of the specific course(s) (ideally with a grade of “A” or “B”) or equivalent coursework in the subject area.
• Prior tutoring or instructional experience is an advantage.

• Minimum hourly rate: $23.06.
