This pool expires 05/31/2027. Applicants wishing to remain in this pool past 05/31/2027, must reapply at that time.

Position Summary:

Candidates are sought to form a hiring pool for temporary positions in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Faculty candidates should hold a degree at the doctoral level or at least one degree above the course(s) being taught in a discipline relevant to the specific course(s) or have earned a master's or doctoral degree in another discipline that includes at least 18 hours of coursework in a discipline relevant to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, tested experience may substitute for the earned credential.

To qualify through tested experience for instruction of undergraduate, masters or doctoral degree classes, a faculty candidate who does not hold an appropriate doctoral degree must have:

* Master's Degree in Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Speech & Hearing Science, or related field (e.g. health, medicine, psychology, education, public health).

* 3 years of post-degree full-time experience (e.g. school-based SLP or audiologist) in the field relevant to the course being taught (language, educational audiology, etc.).

* Clinical instruction faculty should also hold the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in the appropriate discipline or another currently accepted credential of an accrediting body.

About the Department:

The department offers an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and both on-campus and distance education graduate degrees in Speech Language Pathology (MA). Our graduate programs are accredited by CAA and incorporate numerous high-quality clinical training opportunities. Our on-campus graduate programs include clinical practicum at our on-campus Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic as well as at offsite clinical placements. Department faculty are active in teaching and research in the spirit of the student-centered Teacher/Scholar Model.

Due to our small size and typical open-door policy, faculty have close professional interactions with undergraduate and graduate students. There are also strong collaborative traditions within the department and with other programs at UNC.
