Greeley GEAR UP Student Success Specialist will complete training First-Aid/CPR to chaperone students on field trips. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Initiative and follow-through. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations Ability to conduct home visits when required.

Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, District Policies, and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Education, Licenses, Certification or Formal Training Bachelor's Degree, Education, Psychology, Human Services, Social Worker, Counseling, Family Studies, Sociology, Business, Criminal Justice Experience working with high school and college-age students Knowledge of college services, including financial aid and degree completion activities, is a must. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment and also show strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

The successful candidate must be willing proficient in the use of technology for work-related activities and be ready to travel. Experience Level Classroom Teaching Experience. Summary/Objective:
The GEAR UP Student Success Specialist will be responsible for supporting the GEAR UP goals and offer early interventions targeting students in the GEAR UP cohorts, with a focus on low income students least likely to attend and complete post-secondary education and implementing sustainable career and college readiness practices. This includes providing academic, career, and college advising, tutoring, mentoring, family involvement activities, career education programs and activities, post-secondary information workshops and college campus visits at both the middle and high school level.

The ability to relate to and work with adolescents and a willingness to work collaboratively with the community, district, and school teams is essential in alignment with the GEAR UP objectives:
Increase academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education. Increase high school graduation and postsecondary participation rates. Increase students' and their families' knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and finance.
