Position Overview

We are hiring a Staff Surface Process Development Engineer to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts to develop, optimize, and implement robust surface processes for Nitinol medical devices.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of Confluent’s multifunctional Process Development Team responsible for development, optimization, and validation of medical device production processes.
  • Develop robust surface processes such as microblasting, chemical etching, chemical polishing, and electropolishing.
  • Work in collaboration with operators, technicians, and other engineers to deliver devices that meet customer requirements.
  • Create manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, visual standards, and technical memorandums.
  • Coordinate with the Production team for training and manufacturing support.
  • Utilize six sigma and lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvement of validated manufacturing processes.
Essential Qualities
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in a highly technical environment.
  • Capable of performing under the pressure of multiple competing deadlines while maintaining a cooperative and constructive working relationship with colleagues.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Minitab or JMP desirable.
