Test Engineer I
Position Summary:
Advanced Energy is looking for an experienced Test Development Engineer to join our team in Ft. Collins, Colorado. The Test Engineer designs, develops, and implements cost‑effective solutions for manufacturing tests for several high‑frequency, high‑voltage circuits and systems to ensure high quality standards. The role performs a variety of technical, multi‑disciplined tasks early in the Product Development Process to provide timely, flexible, universal tools and processes.
The Test Engineer makes knowledgeable, data‑driven decisions and employs innovative technologies for optimal control and maximum speed and flexibility.
- Ensure testability and serviceability of new product designs, providing feedback to design teams to address opportunities for defects in manufacturing and field use.
- Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products and for product design changes throughout the product’s lifecycle.
- Accurately estimate project costs and schedules associated with implementing test solutions.
- Own test requirements from vendor to shipment to customer.
- Verify products meet their functional requirements, including design verification and manufacturing screens.
- Analyze capabilities and ensure control of critical parameters of products and test equipment.
- Regularly work in lab, office, and manufacturing facilities with power output up to 60kW.
- Travel to international manufacturing and/or development locations may be required throughout the product’s lifecycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence design team decisions.
- Solve complex technical problems with minimal assistance.
- Manage multiple projects.
- Expertise in programming automation and data collection.
- Strong team partnership for project success.
- Experience with a variety of general‑purpose test equipment and automation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, and switches.
- Understanding of manufacturing test environment.
- Experience in power supply testing or design.
- Object‑oriented programming skills.
- Six‑sigma or equivalent statistical, problem‑solving methodology.
- Programming experience in NI LabVIEW, Test Stand, C++, SQL, and/or Python.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
CompensationAs required by multiple state pay‑transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. The range of starting pay for this role is $65,000 to $90,000 per year.
