The role will contribute directly to the technical roadmap by proposing new technical directions, designing and executing experiments, identifying critical performance gaps, and coordinating engineers and scientists to deliver key quantum hardware technologies.

Responsibilities Experimental Programs and Systems Performance
  • Design, build, and lead cross-functional experimental programs to inform the technical roadmap and drive system-level performance improvements.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate new approaches for improving superconducting qubit performance and scalability.
  • Analyze experimental outcomes and translate findings into actionable technical priorities.
Technology Development and Innovation
  • Propose and explore new technical directions for next-generation quantum hardware.
  • Identify complex performance and scalability gaps within existing technologies and develop approaches to address them.
  • Drive the development of technologies required to unlock new levels of quantum system performance.
Quantum Hardware and Measurement
  • Apply hands-on expertise in cryogenic systems, RF measurement techniques, time-domain measurements, and superconducting quantum devices.
  • Investigate system-level behavior and performance limitations through structured experimental work.
  • Own the delivery of key quantum hardware technologies from experimental investigation through technical implementation.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists working on complex quantum hardware challenges.
  • Coordinate technical activities across functions while maintaining ownership of program objectives and delivery.
  • Communicate technical findings, priorities, and experimental results clearly across teams and relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience in a technical role within an industry or start-up environment.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
  • Direct experience with cryogenic systems and RF measurement techniques.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with time-domain measurement and superconducting quantum devices.

Demonstrated record of meaningful scientific or technical accomplishments in quantum science or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of Python.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Strong software development and coding skills.
  • Familiarity with circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) simulation tools.
  • Experience leading experimental programs involving multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to propose and develop new technical directions in complex research and development environments.
