Job Overview
Academic Dean for Business & Technology at Aims Community College. Reports to the Chief Academic Officer and leads planning, vision, and oversight of all credit-bearing programs and certifications across the Business & Technology Division.
ResponsibilitiesKey duties include strategic leadership, program development, budgeting, accreditation, data analysis, personnel management, community engagement, and operational oversight. The role allocates responsibilities across four focus areas:
Leadership & Analysis & Budgeting (35%), Management & Advocacy (30%), Planning (20%), and Personnel Management (10%).
- Develop, administer, and oversee division budgets in alignment with the College’s strategic plan.
- Lead program review, accreditation, and evaluation processes for all business and technology programs.
- Analyze labor market information, stakeholder input, and emerging trends to inform program growth and innovation.
- Coordinate with program chairs and directors to design curricula, manage course scheduling, and ensure compliance with accreditation and state regulations.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, community organizations, and state agencies.
- Supervise and support full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including hiring and personnel decisions.
- Represent the college at external committees and community workforce teams.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans for the division.
- Facilitate communications across the division, administration, and external stakeholders.
- Respond to critical issues, manage contracts and grant logistics, and represent the college professionally.
- Master’s degree in a discipline within the division, higher education, educational administration, or a related field.
- At least three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education, including one year of supervisory experience.
- Completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Demonstrated strategic, future-focused leadership and the ability to anticipate workforce and technology trends.
- Experience designing, implementing, and continuously improving academic programs.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and data-informed decision making.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, and a proven ability to build collaborative relationships.

- Professional judgment, ethical decision-making, and a culture of integrity.
- Doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant discipline.
- Four years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a community college setting.
- Competitive salary beginning at $113,362.
