Schedule:

Part‑time – 20 hours per week (two 10‑hour shifts on Sunday and Monday from 10pm to 8am). Weekend shift differential of $1.50 per hour, plus an additional $5.00 per hour when applicable.

Position Summary

This position produces all required food items based on production sheets, catering requests and prep sheets. Plans and conducts daily work to meet food production and service time requirements.

Core Functions

Prepares and cooks hot and cold food items using standardized recipes; calculates production quantities based on production forecast, tally sheets and catering orders.

May be assigned to work in the retail cafe grill area and/or cook breakfast items.

Records over‑production and run‑outs; writes directions and calculates production quantities.

Checks and logs food and equipment temperatures; reports any problems to the supervisor and indicates needed equipment repair.

Maintains par levels of food and supplies in assigned areas; orders and/or restocks items according to established routines, rotates food stocks and checks freshness dates.

Keeps assigned work areas clean and orderly.

Assists other kitchen and dietary staff as needed; may oversee the scheduled shift for efficiency.

Handles internal staff duties; may interact with customers in grill or exhibition positions in retail units. Follows established procedures, recipes and work routines under general supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

One or more years of institutional food production experience or equivalent.
Ability to learn and follow policies, read and understand written and verbal instruction, communicate effectively, and perform simple math calculations.
Knowledge of food handling regulations and ability to pass required certification tests.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to perform tasks within limited time frames.
Ability to follow production and cleaning schedules; use chemicals safely; read thermometers and adhere to safety requirements.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Food handlers card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services members (not required for BSS members in Tucson and Colorado).

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Estimated Pay Range

$17.32 – $25.98 per hour.
