Production Maintenance
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, disassembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment. This includes the safe repair and troubleshooting of malfunctioning mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems, calibration of instruments, maintaining 5S standards, and performing mechanical preventive and predictive maintenance. The technician also serves on the hazmat response team.
ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical duties such as pumps, valves, conveyor work, sprockets, gearboxes, etc.
Calibrate all plant instrumentation in a wide variety of makes and types (e.g., temperature, flow, pH, vacuum, pressure, Foxboro, Honeywell, Taylor).
Work with industrial electricity (motor controls) to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and machinery, including all three‑phase 480 V, 220 V, and other plant systems.
Complete preventive maintenance work orders.
Communicate effectively with co‑workers, team leads, and supervisors.
Follow the company’s good manufacturing and safety policies and procedures; maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
Perform cleaning duties as required.
Ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English to understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), communicate effectively, complete required documentation, and troubleshoot systems.
Must be able to perform essential job functions and wear required personal protective equipment.
Must comply with all applicable safety practices.
Must maintain a clean work area.
Must be able to perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations.
Must be able to enter data into and retrieve data from computer systems.
Must possess considerable problem‑solving ability and be able to troubleshoot equipment without immediate supervision.
At least two years of experience in a similar maintenance technician role.
Associate’s or two‑year degree in a maintenance‑related field.
Experience with stainless‑steel welding and fabrication.
Basic knowledge of utility equipment and operations (e.g., boiler and refrigeration).
Dairy/food manufacturing experience and knowledge of government and industrial regulations (PSM, OSHA, USDA).
Computer proficiency with email, internet, Microsoft Office, and computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
Welding experience; mechanical repairs including rebuilding gearboxes and process equipment.
PLC troubleshooting experience and knowledge of AC frequency drives and instrumentation.
Hourly rate typically ranges between $34.00 and $40.00.
