Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction and utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Core

Functions

Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history, diagnostics, laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other caregivers.

Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, and initiates and revises it based on assessment data and patient, family and health team input.

Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provides nursing supervision and promotes continuity of care.

Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revises the plan of care as needed, and assesses progress towards goals.

Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and legible manner.

Provides care based on the best evidence available, may participate in research, education, and orientation activities, and supports the growth of others through precepting and mentoring.

Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes and participates in national nursing quality improvement activities.

May supervise staff and oversee workflow in the department.

Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and clergy to provide comprehensive support.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in state of practice, or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure.
BLS certification required.
Experience in the clinical area desired; a minimum of one year of acute care RN experience required for registry and travel positions.
Must maintain clinical performance competencies and annual validations appropriate to the specialty area.
For work requiring a vehicle, a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Professional certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Compensation

Estimated Pay Range: $33.11 – $55.18 per hour.
