About the Program

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full‑time Registered Nurse position that transitions new graduates into fully competent professional nurses. It is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) and offers a collaborative learning environment across a variety of units. New Grads are expected to stay on the assigned unit for at least 12 months and live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility.

Requirements to Apply
  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted at select locations
  • Current BLS card (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain before start date
  • No more than 12 months of RN experience
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred
Benefits & Compensation

Full‑time, fully compensated. Flat rate differential of $2 per hour for weekend shifts and $5 per hour for night shifts when applicable. All positions are eligible for Banner Health’s Total Rewards Compensation Package, which includes health, dental, vision insurance (if desired), PTO/sick time accrual, 401(k), and additional benefits. Benefits begin the month following the start date.

Current Unit Openings

The Surgical Ortho Neuro (SON) unit has 44 beds with an average daily census of 38–40 patients. Full‑time day positions are available, including every third weekend and rotating holidays. After orientation, new hires can self‑schedule. Weekend and night shift differentials are offered.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards.

Core Functions
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results.
  • Formulate a patient‑centered plan of care, including discharge planning; set realistic, measurable goals with patient, family, and health team input.
  • Implement the plan through direct care and coordination of the health care team; delegate and supervise duties; communicate patient status accurately to caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed, and assess progress toward goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record, reflecting objective and subjective data, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research activities, unit/shared leadership, education, and orientation of staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Contribute to improved patient outcomes through participation in nursing quality initiatives and professional organizations.
  • Supervise staff and workflow in some roles.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy support as needed.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN licensure)
    • BLS certification required
    • Clinical experience in the specialty area within the past 12 months as an RN is desired
    • For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions, a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting is required.
    • For Home Health roles, a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage are required.
    • For positions requiring fingerprint clearance, an Arizona or Colorado fingerprint clearance card and applicable affidavits must be possessed at hire and maintained.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Professional certification desired
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
    Estimated Pay Range

    $30.95 – $51.59 per hour. Total rewards are included in the overall compensation package.
