DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Details- Med-surg PCU with a mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients
- All rooms are negative pressure capable and equipped with ceiling lifts
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
- Weekend shifts required per unit needs
- Floating to sister units within the region may be required, with advance notice given
- No on‑call responsibilities
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Active RN license (CO or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
- First‑time travelers considered if they have approximately 2 years of PCU/ICU experience
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, heparin protocols, and PCA
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Feeding tube care and CVA management experience
- Provide nursing care for PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown level patients requiring cardiac, respiratory, and neurological monitoring
- Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for emergency response
- Complete all facility‑specific modules within the first week of assignment
- Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13‑week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
- Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates must disclose this information
- Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
- First‑time travelers are welcome to apply with relevant experience
