Fiber Drop Technician

Position Overview

A career with the Allo Drop team (FTTP) is both challenging and rewarding. Previous telecommunications or construction experience is not required, but physical flexibility, willingness to work outdoors, and self‑motivation are essential. The role involves installing fiber to premises, selecting routes, operating equipment, and maintaining safety standards.

Colorado residents: hourly rate $19‑$22 per hour based on experience.

• Select routes and place/bury drops for residential fiber plant.
• Operate equipment needed to install buried drops.
• Perform yard and landscaping restoration.
• Climb ladders for aerial drop work.
• Work efficiently and productively, individually or as part of a team.
• Select materials for construction of fiber distribution system.
• Secure necessary locations through a 1‑call system before work starts.
• Document construction and provide daily/weekly production reports to the Supervisor.
• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing all regulations and company policies.
• Operate and monitor company‑owned vehicle and equipment, perform daily inspections, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Lift up to 100 pounds and perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred physical labor experience.
• Ability to learn fiber construction and materials.
• Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and willingness to learn Smartsheets.
• Strong communication with internal/external customers, contractors, and employees.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ready to work solo or with a team and outdoors in extreme weather.

• Operate a company vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Pull a trailer with equipment loaded; hook up and back up.
• Complete DOT inspection sheets and obtain DOT physical.
• Keep truck and trailer clean and organized.
• Use power tools and climb ladders up to 35ft.
• Run heavy walk‑behind machinery.
• Read a measuring tape; use personal cell phone for business.
• Work solo or with a team.
• Work with small items (splice ends, snips, cleavers) – training provided.
• Be punctual and ready to work.

• Raise objects up to 100lb.
• Remain upright on feet for extended periods.
• Communicate information.
• Crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand.
• Ascend/descend ladders.
• Carry tools and equipment.
• Operate a computer, hand tools, and machinery.
• Work outdoors in extreme weather.

• Ladder – less than 350lb including equipment.
• Bucket – less than 250lb including equipment.
