Division of Facilities Management – South District. The Division is responsible for operating, maintaining and managing our facilities according to standards. This full‑time, in‑person position maintains all facility systems, performing routine and preventative maintenance for plumbing, mechanical, HVAC and architectural components.

General Duties
  • Perform general routine maintenance functions in all Southern District Facilities.
  • Respond to work requests phoned into the maintenance dispatch desk during normal operating and after hours. Inspect facilities and generate work orders for necessary repairs such as burnt out lights, leaking faucets, loose hinges and all types of damage caused by patients and staff.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, adjust and make minor repairs to various types of locks (penal, residential, and commercial).
  • Snake clogged sanitary lines using appropriate equipment.
  • Repair residential, institutional and penal fixtures, including replacement of washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines.
  • Perform electrical repair, replace ballast, lights, light fixtures and switches. Secure or repair damaged windows caused by patients.
  • Adjust door hinges and closures.
  • Repair damage to finishes and systems—walls, ceilings, roofs, floors, and fixtures; replace flooring material, cabinet and counter tops.
  • Apply paint to walls, surfaces, doors, casings and mechanical rooms.
  • Perform routine and scheduled snow removal and apply ice melt as needed.
  • Assist other trades as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience

Applicants must have four years of building maintenance experience related to this position, including general maintenance and repairs in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, general locksmithing, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to work and train people on advanced card access reader systems.
  • Basic computer skills: email, Google applications.
  • Knowledge of tools used in this occupation (voltage meters, tube benders, pipe cutters, hand‑held snakes, etc.).
  • Knowledge of technology used in this occupation (electronic locks, appliances, etc.).
  • Knowledge of hazardous material, protective clothing and storage.
  • Oral communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing work.
  • Processing of information and manual dexterity.
  • Experience with Maximo.
Conditions of Employment
  • A full pre‑employment criminal background check will be conducted as required. Felony convictions or convictions of moral turpitude or related to job duties may disqualify you.
  • This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
  • Must submit and pass a full background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license. Out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a valid Colorado license within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Travel is required to drive state vehicles and travel to other districts.
  • Must receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical or religious exemption.
  • Must pass a TB test.
  • Will be required to work various hours for coverage, weather‑related issues and essential/emergency services outside normal business hours.
  • Must be available to respond to after‑hours calls via call back.
  • Hazardous materials may be involved. Proximity to mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, electrical shock, or high exposure places.
