Reports ToMechanical/Electrical Department Manager
Education & Experience- Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Valid Colorado State Master Electrician’s License, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in electrical system installation and maintenance.
- Or any other combination of related education, experience, and training.
- Preferred:
- Two years of supervisory or lead experience.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
Summary / Objective: This working foreman position implements and supports a predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance program for the electrical maintenance department, ensuring safe, efficient, code‑compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment.
The Electrical Maintenance Foreman supervises personnel, assigns and inspects work, performs skilled electrical work, plans and schedules work via the district’s work order system, coordinates contractors, and supports long‑range facilities planning. The position may be on call and is responsible for maintaining safe electrical systems for students, staff, and the community.
Essential Job Functions- Supervise and direct D6 electricians in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize work using the district work order system.
- Perform skilled electrical work including wiring, lighting, motor controls, fire alarm systems, and distribution systems.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Estimate labor, materials, and costs for electrical projects and repairs.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the electrical department budget.
- Coordinate electrical projects with other departments and outside contractors.
- Monitor productivity and quality of work performed by staff.
- Recommend staffing levels and assist with hiring, discipline, and employee evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records including timekeeping, materials usage, and work completion.
- Respond to emergency situations involving electrical systems.
- Supervise and maintain electrical distribution systems, transformers, and circuit breakers.
- Promote and enforce safety procedures and participate in safety training programs.
- Use positive verbal and non‑verbal communication when working with staff and the public.
- Drive district vehicles and operate equipment as needed.
- Assist D6 electricians with complex or high-priority work orders.
- May supervise contractors and inspect contracted work.
- Participate in snow removal and other district‑wide support activities.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and shop areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, installation, maintenance, and repair practices.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable electrical codes and regulations (NEC).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
