About the Work UnitThe Region 4 Traffic Unit, located in Greeley, operates and maintains regional traffic signals, traffic control devices, and highway lighting systems. The unit also manages the computer hardware and software for these traffic systems, and it upgrades and installs electrical circuits in all CDOT properties in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
About the PositionThis position supervises electrical personnel for CDOT's Region 4 Traffic Operations at our Greeley office. In addition to supervisory duties, this is a working electrician role and may require travel throughout northeastern Colorado for service calls.
Major duties and responsibilities- Plans, assigns and reviews the work of assigned personnel; coordinates with other CDOT work units and external customers; ensures that activities are performed in accordance with appropriate plans, specifications and agency standards;
- Supervises traffic operations activities through scheduling of staff, equipment and products with allotted region dollars to meet levels of service;
- Supervises and/or performs the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of traffic control devices and systems, including traffic signals, highway lighting, warning beacons, roadway lighting, interconnect communications, variable message signs, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices;
- Installation and maintenance of devices in work areas according to current policies and standards;
- Installation, maintenance, and inspection of equipment, including Intelligent Transportation Systems, video monitoring, fiber optics, hardwire, and radio systems;
- Supervises and/or performs the installation and maintenance of temporary traffic control devices in work areas according to current policies and standards;
- Prepares performance plans; conducts performance reviews; develops performance objectives; adheres to and ensures compliance with CDOT rules;
- Supervises and/or performs the installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical equipment in CDOT buildings and facilities, including inspection of electrical services for light, heat, and power;
- Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, laws, rules and regulations;
