Overnight Shelter Associate – 10 pm – 8:30 am. 20 hours/week

• Follow procedures and guidelines in the operating manual to maintain structure and order in the living environment.
• Accurately and promptly complete all required documentation and data, including entering resident information in daily logs before ending shift.
• Maintain current knowledge of ongoing events and residents by reviewing old logs.
• Enforce shelter rules uniformly and consistently.
• Respond appropriately to needs and crises, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems among residents and summoning emergency personnel.
• Strive to make volunteers and guests feel welcome.
• Conduct intake and orientation of new clients.
• Communicate with other staff to resolve problems with individual residents.
• Complete necessary records and reports, including on the computer or manually, as directed.
• Distribute and inventory supplies.
• Perform a range of cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, wiping, and safely handling small bio‑hazard spills per protocol.
• Provide appropriate information and referrals.
• Keep the supervisor informed of shelter developments.
• Support, promote, and adhere to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
• Reflect Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
• Use creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and agency information.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

• Experience working with people in crisis.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful and/or emergency situations.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Basic knowledge of word processing and typing ability to enter resident information.
• Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques for the client population.
• Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and a diverse client base.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $17.75 per hour. Eligible for a $1 bilingual or overnight differential.
