Highway Maintenance Specialist – Hudson

Applications will be considered from residents and non-residents of Colorado.

Location:

Hudson, CO.

Base pay: $2,074.62 biweekly ($53,940 annually). Additional $1,000/month housing stipend. Overtime rate $38.90/hour.

What You Will Do

No two days are exactly the same. Your daily work varies by project needs, weather, and road conditions. You will be on‑call on a rotating basis and respond to emergencies. You will work as part of a team with at least one lead specialist.

Your Main Job Activities
  • Plow snow
  • Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractors
  • Mow grass and weeds
  • Remove debris from roadways, culverts, and tunnels
  • Shovel gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt
  • Dig ditches
  • Install and repair guardrails, markers, signs, and lighting
  • Fill potholes and cracks
  • Set out signs and cones for traffic control
  • Remove and cover graffiti
  • Install pavement markings/striping
  • Stop or slow traffic in emergencies
  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs
  • Follow safety guidance and wear proper safety equipment

Your Work Environment
  • Exposure to loud noise, fumes, odors, and dust
  • Use of chemicals and cleaning products
  • Use of respirators with some equipment
  • Work near traffic, including high-speed traffic
  • Use of ladders and scissor lifts (10-20 feet)
  • Drive CDOT vehicles
  • Respond to emergencies outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Work in extreme temperatures and elevations up to 12,000 feet
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or

    B) with no air-brake restriction within Colorado

Conditions of Employment
  • Maintain a valid Class A/B CDL within 30 days if relocating to Colorado
  • Pass pre-employment screening (background, driving records, controlled substance test, DOT physical)
  • On-call and shift work; may require response to emergencies outside regular hours
  • Live within 30 minutes driving time of the work site (normal weather)
  • Complete 2 weeks of training for new employees (1 week for veterans) at Aurora
  • May need Hazardous Materials endorsement within 6 months-1 year
