Senior AccountantThis full‑time role is vital in safeguarding the financial health of our organization. As a collaborative member of the Finance team, this position leads essential accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity across our financial systems. The Senior Accountant oversees balance sheet reconciliations, reviews and corrects journal entries, and partners with staff to strengthen accounting practices and streamline processes.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Finance staff to manage core accounting functions, including accounts payable, manual journal entries, month end accruals, and purchasing card activity.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly account reconciliations and financial analyses.
- Support grant management through assistance with draw requests, financial reporting, and budget development.
- Deliver accurate, timely work on assigned projects to support leadership and ensure high-quality financial reporting.
- Serve as the primary daily point of contact for financial operations inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, including agency leadership and vendors.
- Act as backup Payroll Administrator to ensure continuity of payroll processing.
- Lead audit preparation and responses for assigned accounting areas.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with program leaders, finance, and administrative staff.
- Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience. - Preferred:
Master's degree in business administration, finance, or related field.
- Required:
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience. Proficient in ERP systems. - Preferred: 2+ years of not-for-profit accounting experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficient typing and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
