Project Manager - Public Projects (Commercial Construction)

A well-established commercial construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee public sector construction projects, including municipal, education, civic, and government work. The role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring successful delivery across schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a high-visibility position requiring strong communication, organization, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a structured, compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
  • Lead project coordination between owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract administration
  • Ensure compliance with public agency requirements and documentation standards
  • Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks and issues
  • Support field operations in coordination with Superintendents
  • Lead project meetings and maintain strong client communication
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within budget
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction
  • Experience with public sector projects strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost control
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project requirements
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in construction management software and documentation systems
  • Valid driver's license required
