Position

Description:

This position is responsible for project cost estimating including, preparing bids for projects, scope reviews, submittals and shop drawings, accurate material orders, preparing detailed installation plans, and working collaboratively with team members to see projects through to successful completion.

• Complete door and hardware takeoffs and put together pricing for materials, labor, and other project costs
• Review plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the project, catch missing information, and stay on top of bid deadlines and special requirements.
• Work with contractors throughout the estimating and bidding process
• Enter project and pricing details into estimating software
• Review specifications and door schedules and work with architects and contractors to address questions and sort out any issues
• Review the scope of work and make sure all project requirements are understood
• Keep track of project schedules and important deadlines when needed
• Compare the estimated materials and quantities with materials used
• Ensuring the estimating process is more accurate, efficient, and easier to manage
• Connect with general contractors before and after bids to go over project details and requirements
• Maintains regular communication with the field
• Participates in all team meetings
• Responds to request for information and presents cost adjustments

Other Duties As Assigned: Performs other related duties as assigned including supporting team members in the completion of their work for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the business.

Experience/

Education Required:

• Minimum 2-year Tech College degree or equivalent field experience
• Minimum 5 years experience in construction related activities preferred, but not required
• Highly organized and the ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and professional communication, both verbal and written
• Strong ability to use good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Highly organized, and ability to handle multiple project/tasks simultaneously with strong follow up skills
• Capacity to handle situations with calm demeanor and approach
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, contracts, and specifications
